My Personal Experience Playing PLO on CoinPoker

I mainly play Pot Limit Omaha when I log in to CoinPoker, focusing primarily on the low- and medium-stakes tables.

The first thing I noticed was how loose some of the games could become.

You will regularly see players entering pots with marginal hands and rundowns, weak suited aces and disconnected hands that look exciting until the flop arrives and reminds everyone that four cards do not automatically make a playable starting hand.

Preflop pots can become bloated quickly.

One aggressive player raises, another player calls in position, the blinds decide they are getting a good price, and suddenly four players are seeing a flop in a pot that is already large enough to create bad decisions.

The low- and medium-stakes PLO games often contain a mix of competent regulars, recreational players and aggressive gamblers. Some players understand position, blockers and nut potential. Others appear to be working from a strategy guide titled,

“I Have Four Cards, So Let’s See What Happens.”

Post-flop, I have seen players chase non-nut draws, overplay small flushes and stack off with wraps that are dominated by stronger redraws.

That does not mean the games are automatically easy though.

CoinPoker has some very capable PLO regulars. When a table looks attractive, experienced players can find it quickly. A loose recreational lineup can turn into a tougher game after only a few seat changes.

That is why table selection matters.

I look at the average pot size, the number of players seeing the flop and the overall pace of the action per hour. When several players are entering too many pots and regularly taking weak hands too far, the table usually deserves a closer look.

I also pay attention to the built-in player statistics and notes.

The biggest mistake you can make in a loose PLO game is allowing the table to drag you into playing the same way.

My overall experience has been positive.

The action is not identical every session, and some tables are clearly stronger than others. However, during busy periods, I have found attractive low- and medium-stakes PLO games with large average pots and plenty of recreational action.
